David R - Comfortably Numb - - Gay Art Male Art by Michael Taggart Photography

There is no pain
you are receding

A distant ship,
smoke on the horizon.

You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move
but I can’t hear what you’re saying.

I have become
Comfortably Numb

  1. Hey Michael. You should let us help you promote your venture and art on Queer Landia. We are offering a great $80 sponsored link special right now: a link on our Sponsors page, a blog on QL announcing your support, and an email blast to our private list. The link stays on our Sponsors page for an entire year. Let me know and I’ll get you set up. (You can delete this comment if you want).

  2. What part of him is comfortably numb? LOL. Must be after the climax! Sometimes I am during the build up.
Only one issue….I’m a huge (not like…huge) Pink Floyd fan….back from the early 70’s. I saw EVERY Pink Floyd tour since 1975…including one of the 10 US performances of The Wall (tickets were $12.50 & $15. cheaper than the cost of seeing a Pink Floyd tribute band)….I have the framed, full page ad from NY Times) -still something about it …a new record at the time…all 4 members of the band…element of surprise…that not even Roger Waters had (I saw both arena and stadium shows) in his…which were state of the art superior…and the same key architects and lighting genius’es that did 1980 also did Roger’s tours.

Now my point….Somehow I cannot associate Pink Floyd’s music in any way with gay anything…except of course, “Are there any queers in the theatre tonight…get em up against the wall!”

But otherwise, I love this photo. All the photos are sooo good, I would really like to pose with these guys .

    • (great line to quote from the wall – btw)
You are very right! This is a strange case of starting on a picture and then it just goes in a very different direction. I wanted to do a picture of David R where he wasn’t looking at the camera – so I found the right one and just started working on it. Then this mix of Comfortably Numb came on Pandora and just pulled me into the song. So I was totally in that space when editing it, choosing the background, final crop, etc.
Now I’m not so sure it really reflect the song. It still makes a better title than ‘boy looking down’, though. LOL
